Step 5 · Hand over

Your drop-off sheet.

Fill it in at home, save it, print it and hand it over with the computer. Name and phone stay blank on the printout: write them by hand. Nothing here asks for a password, and nothing should.

Spilled something on it? Switch it off and unplug it straight away, and do not switch it back on to test it; let it dry and let the shop look first (Dell’s advice).

Battery swollen, case bulging or lifting? Stop using and charging it. A damaged lithium-ion battery can catch fire. Do not press on it or try to pry it out; take it to a professional (Dell on swollen batteries).
